As the lunch bell rang on Sept. 5th, MBHS students ran to the school’s quad and gathered in anticipation for this year’s Club Rush.
Club Rush is MBHS’s annual tradition, taking place a few weeks into the school year. All of the school’s clubs set up booths, providing both information about their club and a sign-up sheet so students who are interested in joining can jot down their contact information. The event is the perfect opportunity to get in touch with the school and its activities, as well as to socialize with peers who have common interests, and this year was no exception.
Among the hustle and bustle of the quad, Senior Ashley Beltrama sat behind a table, representing the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, better known as FCA here on campus, a club that focuses on Bible study, “A lot of people came to our table, played our game, and got some candy,” said Beltrama, describing the experience, “It was pretty cool, a lot of people came more people than expected.”
Junior Peightion Lopez also went to Club Rush, as both a representative of a club and a student, anxious to join extracurriculars herself.
“I was helping run the Key Club booth,” said Lopez, “We are a volunteer-based club, under a larger volunteer group called Kwanas. You get to meet people from different schools, and you really get to connect to the community.”
Lopez also mentioned the activities she herself checked out during the period, “I signed up for Cooking Club, Interact Club, which is like Key Club, and Ocean Dwellers Club, I think it’s called, which sounds pretty cool,” said Lopez.
Club Rush also served as a platform for new clubs to promote themselves and educate students on what they have to offer. Senior Lucy Duprey, who just this year began Yolo Club, a club focused on “living life to the fullest,” with fellow Senior, Alana Shields, said, “I really love how my club got the opportunity to show the school who we are! We had an astounding start this year thanks to Club Rush.”
After the event, club representatives felt more positive than ever that membership would not be scarce this year, as the turnout was far more notable than in previous years. With club leaders and excited students alike all in attendance, the official Club Rush of 2025, packed and busy, was a wonderful and productive opportunity and experience for all who participated.
