A severe flash flood hit Globe, Arizona on Sept. 28, 2025, and left lots of destruction. Cars were overturned in the road and trapped in feet of water. The most affected areas were Globe and Miami, Arizona, and other surrounding areas of Gila County. The flash flood lasted about two hours, but the destruction it left behind lasted until and will probably last for several months, even years. The rain and storms weren’t even the worst part of it, because that caused severe runoff going straight into downtown Globe, causing damage to vehicles and several buildings, some historical. The runoff also caused about 1,000 propane cylinders to be washed away from a distribution site. This became a very hazardous situation, because of the serious fact that they could explode.

Because of the destruction related to the surplus of water, the town closed big stretches of road while they worked on clearing debris and trying to make it safe for drivers again. Very sadly, three people died in the vicious storm in Globe, and one person in a town over Scottsdale, trapped in a car fully submerged in water. Many people managed to get out of their vehicles before fatal danger, and rescue crews would take any people with injuries to hospitals.
Though the weather started to calm and go back to the normal heat in Arizona, additional rain complicated things and forced the roads to close once again, while they were still in search for missing people and repairing various structures and roads in need. The town of Globe has seen flooding before, but nothing like what happened to them in September. People from all over came to this small town to put their hands together and work to make Globe and the surrounding areas better again. Thousands of kind people coming together is heartwarming and will make this town so much better. Luckily, a search and rescue has been sent out for those who are missing. Katie Hobbs, The governor of Arizona, spoke on the flooding, “the flooding in Gila County has caused heartbreaking loss and serious damage,” she said while speaking on the topic. The town is telling anyone living in Globe to stay in shelter and stay safe because there is still very hazardous and dangerous debris everywhere. A school inside Miami, with just 430 students attending, was hit hard by the storm. The gym was hit hard and the school will need to replace the floors, and some walls around campus will need to be replaced because of drywall damage. No students will be allowed in several buildings because of damage and repairs. Furniture was damaged and broken, but people are stepping up and putting in work to help the school return back to normal. It’s heartwarming how many people have gone to help the people who have suffered loss because of the storm or have had their homes damaged or even destroyed.
