The 2018-2019 Girls Water Polo season is off to a great start with a Varsity record of 4-2. The Girls opened the 2018 season with a huge 12-0 win against San Luis Obispo High on August 18th. Coach Andrew Silva says, “We won with great defense and it got us off to a great start.”
The team continued their streak with another win over rival San Luis Obispo on August 25th, crushing them 18-1. “Winning four of our first six games in the season is a positive and gives us good momentum moving forward!” says Silva.
The JV girls participated in a tournament this past weekend here at Morro Bay High. It was the first high school tournament held in the awesome new pool. “The tournament was super exciting!” explained Coach Silva.
The girls are having great development so far, with Senior Violette Nava performing as one of the best goalies in the county according to Silva. He says, “The entire senior group are all really great players and the JV girls have been competitive in every game and have gotten better each game.”
The season is looking great for the Girls Water Polo Team. With the track they’re on, they are only going to get better. You can see the girls team in action again this weekend, September 21st and 22nd as the participate in an tournament at Arroyo Grande.
