We asked students during lunch what book every High School student should read. Here are the top 10 answers and the reason why:
- “Harry Potter” by J.K. Rowling – because it’s great, actually, you should read it even before high school, but if you haven’t yet, go and do it right now.
- “Lord of Rings” J. R. R. Tolkien – because it’s the entire world of miracles.
- “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee – because it gives so many information about racism and other important issues and shows us everything in the ways it’s seen by children.
- “Everything Everything” by Nicola Yoon – because it’s a young adult book, which develops a really important theme.
- “Simon vs The Homo Sapiens agenda” by Becky Albertalli – because when else do you read it, if not in High School? Never! But it is definitely worth reading!
- “The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak – because how many books do you know about fascism in Germany and about the Holocaust? Do you want to know more? This book will teach you and make you cry.
- “13 Reasons Why” by Jay Asher – because it changes your view on high school and makes you think about the impact of your behaviour on others.
- “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” by John Boyne – because High school is the time when you don’t want to deal with hard themes as holocaust. This book deal with hard themes in the easy way.
- “Dandelion Wine” by Ray Bradbury – because it’s innocent, kind, and evokes a desire to live.
- “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott – because High school is the time when you are growing up, This book perfectly shows the process of growing up.
