October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Each Wednesday, all Morro Bay High School students are encouraged to wear pink clothing in support of breast cancer survivors that are fighting and that have fought breast cancer.
At MBHS, Librarian Ms. Hagwood has been affected by breast cancer. Her comment on Breast Cancer awareness month and ‘On Wednesdays we Wear Pink’ movement was, “I’m grateful that people have kept it in the news by ‘on Wednesdays we wear pink’ and all the research that’s paid for, because I’m still around.”
Globally, this year it is estimated that 266,120 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Also, an estimated 2,550 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Finally 41,400 lives will be taken this year due to breast cancer.
Be sure to wear pink every Wednesday in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
