After a league-winning season, Girls Volleyball went to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) on October 25th. Playing against San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno, the team lost all three of their games, meaning that they will not advance in the tournament.
Girls Volleyball, who had earned a record of 9-1 this season, faced defeat in each of their three games (whoever wins the best out of three games is the winner) with two scores of 25-16 and one of 25-20. They were playing in the Central Section of CIF in Division 3 for their sport, which includes 16 teams from around the region.
Senior Delaney Siegmund shared her thoughts on the game, which hadn’t yet taken place. She said that having an away game was unexpected and that “it’s a challenge, but I think that we are all excited.” She continued, “since it’s my senior year, hypothetically this could be my last game…[but] I’m hoping to go far.”
Siegmund also spoke about her experiences throughout the season: “once our league games started we really came together as a team and started winning games, which is ideal.” She said that as the season went on “we started playing really cohesively as a team, [not individuals].”
