Both Morro Bay High School Boys and Girls Wrestling have found success so far in the season, with Boys Wrestling beating San Luis Obispo 80-0 on December 19th and having won two dual meets at the Newark Memorial Ironman Duals and the Morro Bay Rumble at the Rock.
The Girls team were able to win second place in the Lady Pioneer Showdown in Anaheim. On December 19th, the Girls team won against San Luis Obispo, earning 54 points in comparison to SLO’s 15. In the Girls Bash at Pioneer High School on Pioneer Valley High School, the team placed 5th with 9 individuals placing.
Player Marshall Beecham, who won first place at one of the events, said that he “pinned all the kids and in the finals match I just took my sweet time on bottom and just won by a point.” He continued, saying that the team did well at the Rumble at the Rock tournament on December 7th and 8th.
Beecham explained that they were able to defeat North Bakersfield, who he described as a “ good team in our CIF” which gave them “a good visual of how good we are.” Overall, Marshall shared his hope of winning CIF, which is shared by the rest of the team.
