FFA Collects Pennies for Paradise

By Michaela Shong

Morro Bay High School is a smaller school located in the heart of the Golden Coast. This year in the midst of all of the wildfires plaguing California, our chapter came together to see what we could do in order to help those in need. The money we raised was going to help the animals affected by the fires in Paradise, California. Our 88 member chapter came up with the idea of Pennies for Paradise, we would put boxes in classrooms around the school and students from the third period classes would add pennies to gain points for their class.  The winning class (the class with the most pennies) got an ice cream bar delivered by Santas Reindogs. The fundraiser lasted for just over a week and we ended up raising upwards of $300! We are so proud of our chapter, school and community as a whole!
