Morro Bay Boys and Girls soccer teams both had games this past week. The Boys were paired against St. Joseph High in Santa Maria and the Girls had to go up against Nipomo. The Boys lost a nail-biter to St. Joseph 1-0, while the girls came away victorious in a 2-0 away game.

The Boys played a good game defensively, only holding the opposing team to 1 goal, but were unable to score a goal themselves. It was not very helpful that they were playing in Santa Maria after a bit of a drive.

The Girls won their conference game against Nipomo 2-0, with Dot Nickel being named the player of the game. Morro Bay was able to shutout Nipomo in a game where everybody came out covered in dirt. MaxPreps.com had to say this about Dot Nickel’s performance,” Dot Nickel came off the bench to give Morro Bay a shutout against Nipomo. Covered in dirt by the end of the game, she made incredible saves and came out of the box acting as a defender when needed. Great game Dot!”

The Girls’ record improves to 5-6 and they are set to play Santa Maria in a home conference game next on January 18 at 6pm. The Boys will face off with Orcutt Academy in an away conference game on January 18 at 6 pm as well.
