The Morro Bay High Boys and Girls Soccer teams played their next set of games recently with both teams coming out as the victors. The Girls went head-to-head with Templeton High in a home conference game while the Boys faced Mission Prep in an away conference game. The Girls won 1-0 and the Boys shutout our longtime rivals 3-0.

Each team had their respective players of the game. The girls had a great performance from Grace Hotaling. For the the boys, Pedro Morales played an outstanding game as well.

Pedro Morales brought his A-game this week to defeat Mission Prep, scoring two goals out of the three, leading Morro Bay to a victory. MaxPreps.com had his to say about Pedro’s performance: “His 2 goals and relentless pursuit of the goal was the catalyst for our win.” Pedro has scored some outstanding numbers throughout the season He has scored 5 goals and had 7 assists, which are both higher than the national averages

Grace Hotaling also played a good enough game to be named the player of the game. She had a great instinct for the ball and gave her all for her team. Here is what MaxPreps.com put under their coaches comments section for Grace, “Grace is a player who leaves everything she has on the field. She was covered in mud, may have been bleeding and drenched in sweat at the end of the game. She has a nose for the goal and kept shooting even when we were driven back by the opposition and the mud. Her control of the midfield and tenacity to win the ball time and again is something our team will miss greatly next year. She is a force to be reckoned with and never disappoints her team, even when we have to take an L. Thanks for your drive Grace!” Grace has 4 goals and one assist this season.

After a successful week of soccer, the Boys will face Nipomo High in an away conference game on Thursday, January 25 at 6:00 pm. The Girls will have an away conference game next against Mission Prep at 6:00 pm on Thursday, January 25. The Boys record improves to 8-12-1, and the Girls also improve to 5-8 on the season.
