The Morro Bay Girls Golf team played a tight game Tuesday against Pioneer Valley at the Black Lake Canyon course. Despite the course being what senior Abbie Burrus describes as “fairly difficult,” the MBHS girls only lost by one point.

While Morro Bay High School only lost by one point, there was some controversy about what the final score was. “So basically, the other team said that I wrote down the wrong score, and I was sure I didn’t. So we had to drive back to the first hole and run down every shot I had,” said Sydney Laughlin, “We went to the top, we were debating, and there were three people against me, they thought I had a nine and I thought I had an eight. After a while, I decided to just let it go because I didn’t think it would make a big difference, but unfortunately, it did.”

The girls will be playing again on Thursday, September 11 against Pioneer Valley again. Burrus says the team had won “One of our previous matches against Pioneer Valley… so I think we definitely have the capability to beat them.”
