A non-league volleyball game took place at Morro Bay High School on Monday, September 30. The Freshman and JV teams tallied another loss for their overall record for this season. The Varsity girls volleyball team also lost, allowing San Luis Obispo High School to take the first two sets of the match. The Lady Pirates fought back and took the third set but in the end, the Tigers took the victory.
However, the girls went head-to-head with St. Joseph in their first league game of this month. The Freshman and Varsity went for two in a row and lost this week. A varsity player Alyssa Ellis stated “St. Joseph was a different game that was definitely a hard loss for us all, we didn’t feel like we lost we felt like we just didn’t give it our all like we know that we couldn’t beat them and we just played really weird that day.” The JV volleyball girls gained another victory in their record. Abigail Roberts said, “For us, I think we were communicating better, and the fact that in this game we worked a lot more as a team than individually, and we didn’t get as frustrated and kind of just helped each other up more like working together.” Communication was a key to their success in this game.
The next game was on October 15th against Orcutt Academy and October 10, against Nipomo. Make sure to come out and support the Lady Pirates.
