Morro Bay High School’s girls’ volleyball team has finished a successful season, having gone onto the second round of CIF. The team played against Immanuel High School in a game to determine if the Pirates would proceed in CIF. The Morro Bay girls lost and are out of CIF. Next year, the team will be moved up a league.

The team noticed areas for improvement that may strengthen the team for future years in CIF. “I think our team could have started out stronger, and gone into the game with more confidence,” senior Christelle Mouret explained. “We were having an off day, and we could have been more energetic,” sophomore Alyssa Ellis added.

The ending of the season can be a very emotional time, especially for seniors. “My favorite memory this season was winning against St. Josephs. We all ran over into a huge dog pile, and it was such an emotional moment and a really good time,” Ellis shares. Although the season is over, many seniors hope to continue playing. “I hope to play volleyball someway, somehow, whether that’s college or some club,” Mouret says.

Next year, Morro Bay’s girl volleyball will be playing in a higher league. “It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Ellis states, “we’re going to play some better teams and improve.”
