50 years ago today (well, yesterday…sue me), the 1969 Morro Bay Football season came to an end with a catastrophic 42-0 loss to San Luis High School. With 6 wins and 3 losses, the team had had a rather successful season, but they ultimately fell to the overwhelming enthusiasm of the Tigers. Ultimately, the Tigers ended in third place in the league behind Paso Robles and Arroyo Grande.
The Pirate loss was not, unfortunate;y, a surprise: at that point, they had never beat San Luis Obispo High School.
This year, the Pirates also suffered a defeat to SLO as a send-off to the season, but the score was somewhat better: 53-14. We put some points on the board, y’all!
