After a successful season last year, the Girls Basketball team hopes to maintain their winning feeling.

On Saturday, November 16th the Pirates played their first non-league basketball game against San Luis Obispo High School. The following week the Pirates played 3 straight games: 2 away games and 1 home game.

Both teams lost against the Lady Tigers. 32-37 was the final score for the JV Girls and 41-48 for the Varsity. It sounded like both teams came out strong but fell short in the end. The JV team went to double overtime for playing really strong defense and playing their offenses right. However, in the end  “it just came down to the little things that we need to fix,” as said by varsity head coach Alex Engel. He elaborated, saying that even though they lost they fought back really hard and had a good work ethic in the last quarter of the game.

The following week, the Pirates took on the Mission Prep Royals. The JV Girls won their first game with a score of 38-14. It was another loss for the Varsity team with a score of 51-24. The varsity team then played Coast Union the next day and won with a score of 57-9. The girls also played Santa Ynez Pirates at Morro Bay High School and took the victory. JV won by a score of 55-10, and Varsity also won with a score of 59-40.

The Lady Pirates will play against the Bearcats at Paso Robles High School, on November 26th during ThanksGiving Break. After Thanksgiving Break they will play against Nipomo High School on December 3rd.
