Let’s Binge through the Pandemic! The Best Shows and Movies for Social Distancing

Since the recent call for a shelter-in-place, San Luis Obispo has limited options for sources of entertainment. Some people may be reading or writing, but for others this may be too boring or not appealing enough to meet their needs. That’s where T.V. streaming platforms come in to fill their entertainment needs. Since COVID-19 will keep citizens in their houses for long lengths of time, binge-worthy T.V. and movie series will help to cope with the situation. Of course there are many different streaming platforms to watch from.

One of the biggest, if not the biggest, streaming platform, Netflix pioneered the idea of binge watching of T.V. shows and movies.

Some golden nuggets within Netflix’s massive selection of content include:

The Leftovers

With an intense, emotional story carried by outstanding acting, The Leftovers explores a world where 2% of the population disappeared without a trace. Despite a supernatural premise, the series delves deep into its very real characters as they deal with this world-changing event.

Disney +

For you Disney fanatics, this new streaming platform that perfectly fits your needs with content ranging from classics to originals.

The Mandalorian

As the first Star Wars TV show, The Mandalorian had a lot to live up to. Thankfully, it lived up to the challenge: its eight episodes are filled with the adventure that Star Wars lovers have come to expect as well as a space-western intrigue as we follow a lone bounty hunter and his lovable companion: Baby Yoda!

Snow White (and other classic Disney movies)

Star Wars: The Original Trilogy

With hours to spare, now might be the right time for you to jump back in time to the trilogy that launched one of the most well-known movie franchises in history. Accompany Luke, Leia, Han, and more on this adventure that defined a generation of film.

The Marvel Saga

Is three movies not enough for you? Try 17! Now is a good time to kick  back and relax with (almost) all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, stretching all the way back to Iron Man in 2008 to Avengers Endgame in 2019. Martin Scorsese may not think they are cinema, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t fun with their classic heroic antics and quippy dialogue. Unfortunately, you’ll have to head over to Netflix if you want to see Avengers: Infinity War or Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Well fellow quarantiners, I hope this will help you binge watch your way through the pandemic and maybe even have an enjoyable time spent with your family while watching a good show or two.
