Saturday, April 17th, the Morro Bay FFA Veterinary Science Team logged on it’s second virtual field day competition. Knowing that was their last chance to practice under pressure, before the State Finals, the team was ready to show just how much they had learned. After approximately 2 hours of intense testing, the team logged out and waited. Tuesday evening, the California State FFA Officers came on the live stream and announced the results of the field day and Morro Bay took 4th place.
Since November, the Vet Science team has practiced every Wednesday night, online with Ms Flynn. Team members include Lainey Costa, Taylor Costa, Ella Elkins, Graceyn and Brenden Costa. Each contest consists of 3 identification tests which include breed identification for large and small animals, tool identification for veterinary use, and parasite identification. After completing these tests, the members must complete a general knowledge test regarding health, management and patient care for large and small animals.
State Finals will be held on Friday, May 30th virtually, and the members will also have to submit videos of themselves performing certain skills associated with veterinary medicine. We wish the Vet Science team good luck with this final contest of the year.
