The annual MBHS spirit week is officially over. There was a theme for each day of spirit week, and almost everyone participated. The first theme was to wear flip flops, and the second was twin day. The third theme was pearl trading.

The theme for the first day of spirit week here at Morro Bay High School is to wear flip flops (also known as fishy flip flops day),  which most people participated in. Harper Wingett-Wilson said, “I really liked wearing flip flops, and I thought it was really cool to show school spirit.” Many people wore flip flops, and a lot of people liked this theme because it was easy and fun.

The second theme on Tuesday was twin day. Twin day is when you ask somebody you want to match with to twin with you. I saw a lot of people matching, and the theme seemed to be very enjoyable for students. Reese Brinkman matched with Peyton Webie wearing polka dots together. Brinkman said, “It was a really fun spirit week, and I liked matching with Peyton.” There were also goldfish and blue lemonade served during nutrition in the quad on Tuesday by ASB.

On Wednesday, there wasn’t a theme, but there was pearl trading. Pearl trading is when you get a pearl from your teacher in the morning, and you can trade it with people by playing rock, paper, scissors. Then, at the end of the day, whoever had the most pearls gets a free homecoming ticket, which would originally be $15 to $20.

Thursday’s spirit day was crazy hair day. There were a lot of different hairstyles, and everyone did a good job on this theme. There were also snow cones served during nutrition. And Friday, the final day of spirit week before the dance, was a little different than the other days, with

Each class grade had a different theme. This year, the freshmen’s theme was to dress as tourists, the sophomores’ theme was lifeguards, the juniors’ theme was surfers, and the seniors’ theme was pirates.

Courtney Cellar said, “I thought the themes were fun and I liked being a tourist.” There was also a rally during the fourth period about the Homecoming Football game, as well as the final nomination of the Homecoming court with five final pairs to vote from.  Students also watched the teachers compete in inflatable costumes.

A lot of students enjoyed watching the homecoming rally and liked voting for people they wanted to win for homecoming royalty. The themes for this year’s Spirit Week were really fun. A lot of students participated in Spirit Week this year, and hopefully they enjoyed it. It was really cool seeing everyone dress up, and hopefully everyone’s excited for next year’s spirit week.
