The boys’ basketball season began with home game against Exterer on Nov. 21. In their last game, on Dec. 2, the boys played Lompoc at home and lost 57-71. On Tuesday, Dec. 9, the boys went back to Lompoc to hopefully make up for that score. On Saturday, Nov. 22, the Frosh team went to SLO High School and won 39 to 35 in a close game. They will visit Templeton for a match on Dec. 16.

Hadrian Norm-Reynoso said that the season may be off to a rough start for JV, being 0-2, but he believes it can bring it back around and have a good record by the end of the season. The first game they played was against Kerman. JV lost this game 34-57. They then lost against Lompoc, the score being 40-70. Reynoso said “Noah Erwin has been doing great this season.” Reynoso also said, “The team has some real potential to win some games.” Reynoso believes the team will have some good competition and has some great scorers and role players to help the team win.
The freshman team is doing great so far, being 1-0. They won in a very close game with the score being 39-35. Avery Raya is one of the best on the freshman team, being one of the top point scorers and racking up assists. Avery Raya said, “The team is really fun to play on and has a great environment. I just wish we could’ve played some more games. It would’ve been fun to play more games against better teams.” Raya is a fast-paced player. Raya began his Basketball Journey in sixth grade, when JV player and classmate Chase Taylor told him to play recreational basketball with him. Raya then went on to be a top scorer on his middle school basketball team and is now a top scorer on the freshman team.
The Pirates, unfortunately, couldn’t capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 93-53 loss at the hands of the Exeter Monarchs. For the second week in a row, the Pirates are taking on Lompoc and will be taking a road trip to take on the Braves at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates are coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Last game against Lompoc, Morro Bay lost 71-57. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago [55], the Pirates still had to take the loss. Morro Bay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 2nd loss. They were beaten by the Kerman Lions 96-55.
