Phoebe Bridgers made her debut back out into the public eye on May 8, 2026, after not playing shows since touring with Boygenius in 2023. Posters were put up all around Roswell, New Mexico, on May 7 describing Bridger’s concert that would be the next day, specifically announcing that all tickets were on a first-come, first-served basis. With doors opening at 6 p.m. on May 8, fans camped out at The Liberty starting at sunrise to secure tickets to be in the presence of a historic moment in Bridgers’ career.

The NM show at The Liberty had a capacity of around 400 people, but the ticket line circled multiple blocks, with fans waiting for even the smallest chance of getting in. Bridger’s played six of her old songs from previous albums, premiered four new songs, and then continued with three old songs to end the night. Christian Lee Hutson, an indie-folk artist who has opened for Bridgers’ in the past, also joined Bridger’s on stage.
During her performance, a short video was played to preview her possible new album, as Bridger told audiences this was a “test” to see how people would react to her new music. According to various fans across TikTok, the album is very space and alien-themed, which is the reason she’s playing shows in states/towns with extraterrestrial history. In each lockable pouch that fans’ phones were kept in at the Roswell show, there was also a small fragment of a painting that was placed along with it, which fans speculate could piece together her new album cover.
New merchandise was also sold at the Roswell show, which was all, once again, very space and alien-themed, with one piece of merch even having new song lyrics on it: “Now I can’t see any stars in the sky. When a dream comes true, a fantasy dies…but we’re gonna be alright, me and you.” Fans described her new songs as similar to her 2022 song “Sidelines,” which has a very techno vibe, while remaining Bridgers’ solemn and melancholic sound. After the show, fans were able to meet Bridger’s and even hug her or receive an autograph from her.
Bridger’s is set to play a second secret show on May 11, in Little Rock, Arkansas, at The Rev Room. The show is also on a first-come, first-served basis and won’t allow audiences to use their phones, pens, notepads, and all electronic devices to keep her new music secret.
As Bridgers’ separate band with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus, Boygenius, was a huge project that made all of their solo careers even bigger than before, who knows what a new album could do for Bridgers’ career in music and fan population.
