Mike Sherm had two concerts at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo on April 19 and 20. The doors opened at 7 p.m., and the concert started at 8 p.m. Sherm didn’t come out until 8:35, and the concert ended after a short period of time, at 9:18. Although the concert was really short, it was still so hyped up inside and so much fun.
Freshman Cal Clayton went to Sherm’s concert on the 19th. Clayton said the overall vibe was very upbeat, and everyone had really good energy. “Probably 90% or more were singing along with every word,” Clayton said. Clayton said Sherm engaged with the crowd a lot. Walking down from the stage, crowd surfing, high-fiving people in the front row, and even giving away his jacket to a girl in the front row. “A standout song to me was “Mike Sherm Mentality.” His vibe throughout the whole song was unmatchable and he looked so happy to be on that stage.” Clayton says Sherm sadly did not perform any of his unreleased or new songs, but his old songs were still fire. Clayton said you could feel the ground shaking, and everything was vibrating in the building. Clayton said he played the song Hollywood by Shoreline Mafia, and he was super impressed because he didn’t think he was going to play any Shoreline Mafia songs. “The opener was his DJ and he was so sick. He was playing songs that everyone knew, including ‘Soak City’ and ‘Handsome and Wealthy.’” Clayton said the venue was so sick, but he wishes the stage were a little higher so people could see better. “Overall though, I was really happy I had the opportunity to go,” Clayton said.

Sophomore Milana Sanson, went to Sherm’s concert on the 20th. Sanson loved the vibe of the concert, and she hasn’t ever been to one with that vibe. This was her first rap concert and the only concert she has been to previously was Billy Joel, which has a way different vibe then Sherm. “He crowd surfed twice and I was in the front row so I was able to touch his hand which was really cool.” Sanson says her favorite songs he played were “Baby” and “Born a Boss.” “Most of the people watching the show were teenagers and college students. There weren’t very many adults over the age of around 30 there. “It was really cool when he played the song ‘Gang Gang’ because it was unexpected and everyone went crazy.” Sanson said the DJ that opened was super fun and everyone in the crowd was bouncing up and down. “It took around 20 minutes to get it when the door opened which isn’t too bad at all and the concert was so much fun and everyone was vibing a lot.”
