The fourth season of Bridgerton has finally concluded. After much anticipation, part two of season four was released on Netflix on Feb. 26. This season, by far, has had the most love out of all the seasons, and it is not hard to see why, especially when you have been a long-time fan of the show
(SPOILERS AHEAD)

We last left off at the end of episode four, with Benedict Bridgerton asking Sophie Baek to “Be his Misstress.” Without saying a word, Sophie left the stairwell. This left fans in such a disarray that many swore off their love for the character of Benedict as a whole. However, we open part two with Benedict trying to plead with Sophie via letter. Sophie still won’t listen to him, staying firm on her ground. This built up the way for fans to be on the edge of their seat, eager to see what is next.
By the end of the episode, we see both characters give in to their feelings, providing a sort of relief to the viewer, and hope that all may be alright between them after all. Yet, there are still high stakes at hand since Sophie is an illegitimate child, making her unsuitable for Benedict to marry, no matter how much they love each other. Worry spreads among the family that if the two were to go to the town, their whole family’s reputation would be ruined. Hyacinth and Eloise Bridgerton, both Benedict’s sisters, are yet to marry, and such ruin could damage their marriage prospects.
Other notable plot points that will further other characters’ future seasons are Francesca Bridgerton losing her husband, not even a year after they married. John Kilmartin dies at the end of season two after lying down from a small headache and dying unexpectedly, shocking the ton and the viewer. Hannah Dodd (Francessca’s actress) gives one of the most phenomenal performances of the entire season. Her grief is translated through the screen tragically and beautifully. Francessca’s character struggles with becoming pregnant throughout the season, and Dodd expresses such emotion through her grief and the effect that her not being able to carry on the Kilmartin line had on her.

Tensions also rise between Micheala and Francessca, raising the pressure for their much-anticipated season, which is predicted to release in 2028 as season six. Micheala, who was introduced to us at the end of season three as John’s cousin, creates a bond with Francesca after having a rocky start to their relationship, but by the time of John’s death, they both have only each other.

At the end of the season, Sophie discovers that her father, in fact, left her dowry and confronts her stepmother on her deception and mistreatment of Sophie for seven years. The Bridgerton family is able to back her into a corner and leave her with no choice but to introduce Sophie to the Ton as nobility, allowing her and Benedict to properly marry and live their life in the open. As for next season, it is predicted that Eloise Bridgerton will be our next lead. After four seasons of her being disgusted by the thought of marriage, fans are excited to see who it is that will capture her heart.
