MBHS’s amazing girls’ volleyball team held its annual senior night on Oct. 14, 2025. It was a beautiful celebration that honored its 11 seniors on a 12-person team. The girls have put countless hours into this past season, working on their agility and their team’s bond to truly be the best team that they can be. Many of these girls have been playing volleyball their entire life, and the end to their high school volleyball careers are rapidly coming to an end.

The night kicked off with a presentation of each and every senior, along with a little blurb describing their time on the team and what they hope to do later on after their high school career. It was a tearful event to see the hard work of these girls from the past 4 years be honored in front of their family and peers, marking a beloved time in their senior year.
Next thing the crowd knew, the senior game kicked off against Atascadero High School’s Greyhounds. The girls worked diligently and as a team to score points. They worked together to communicate when someone else had the ball or to set up how they would achieve their next point. Some outstanding members on the court were middle blocker and senior Jane Taylor, and senior Reese Kelly, a constant setter, setting her team up for success in any way she can. The girls put up a good fight, but unfortunately, they lost 3-0 in sets to Atascadero.
After the game, the girls and their families rushed over to the other side of the gym to collect their senior baskets, which contained thoughtful volleyball-themed gifts, and were also surprised with a video of their childhood photos and a sweet message from their parents. It was a beautiful and bittersweet moment as the realization of being a senior quickly set in. Senior Keolani Cross said, “After senior night, we watched a video made by our wonderful junior, Ella Meehan. It was so thoughtful I couldn’t stop crying, it made me realize how fast time flies and how much I love my family, and I feel so grateful to have all these amazing people around me, showing an outpour of thankfulness.
When it came to realizing the end of her high school volleyball career, Cross said, “It may be the end of my volleyball career in high school, but that definitely doesn’t mean I’m gonna stop anytime soon! I might be playing at Cuesta, and even then, I’ll always play for fun with friends and family.” showing her immense love and appreciation for her sport. This team has shown immense support for each other and the sport that they love; all of their hard work will not be forgotten anytime soon.
