Julie Hartz, Writer
Julie Hartz is a senior who transferred to MBHS from Norway. She is an extrovert with the people she knows and enjoys being around her friends. Hartz spends her time working out, going to the beach, and used to do gymnastics for 8 years. Hartz said, “I honestly moved here because of the beach.” At the beach, she enjoys tanning, going into the ocean, and hanging out with friends. One thing she knows she wants to be is a marine biologist.
She joined journalism because it follows the media pathway in Norway. Hartz has done many projects in this pathway and says, “It’s really fun!” Her favorite thing was the Golden Cow award in Norway. People compete for this award with the best-made film. She competed in this with a film that took her a month. Hartz enjoyed it and loved making the scenes and editing. She hasn’t done many articles in this program since she mainly focused on pictures, Photoshop, making posters, and illustrating. For her main goal, she states, “I want to get better at writing articles and maybe become a journalist.”
Hartz has enjoyed this school year so far and enjoys how sunny it is here, even during winter, since she is used to a cold, dark December. Hartz is happy for the new experiences she has gained and for the new ones to come. Outside of school, Hartz is part of the cheer team and is thinking about being on stunt. Migraines have been a challenge for her and influence what activities she can do, but she still manages to hone her skills and have fun. She states that something she would like to accomplish is to improve her English and make American friends.
